Our Story
Since 1998, Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation (OHCEDC) has served as a 501(c)(3) private non-profit agency, deeply rooted in community support. Over the years, OHCEDC has been dedicated to helping individuals achieve their small business, financial, and housing goals. By providing comprehensive support in homeowner and financial education, as well as business education, counseling, and advocacy, OHCEDC has empowered countless individuals to overcome crises, afford basic needs, improve money management skills, and make sound financial choices that align with their values. Our commitment is unwavering, and our mission centers on fostering financial resilience and enabling individuals to thrive in their personal and professional endeavors.
At OHCEDC, we are steadfast in our commitment to building authentic relationships with individuals who have been negatively impacted by an industry with a history of systemic discrimination and biased policies, processes, and programs. We recognize the importance of addressing these inequities and have taken intentional steps to educate ourselves, connect more deeply with impacted communities, and create impactful programs tailored to their needs. We hold ourselves accountable by monitoring outcomes and continuously striving to uphold our commitment to this work.
Who We Serve
We take great pride in serving a diverse group of individuals from various socio-economic backgrounds. Our services are designed to support minorities, disenfranchised candidates for re-entry, the unemployed/underemployed, and anyone whose income falls at or below federal poverty guidelines. Specifically, our targeted area of service includes Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, and McDowell Counties of North Carolina. These counties have demonstrated a clear need for innovative economic development due to factors such as the demand for affordable housing, inadequate existing rental housing conditions, job loss, and the need for small enterprise development.
At OHCEDC, we aim to assist and make a positive impact in our community.
