About Olive Hill CEDC
Founded in 1998, Olive Hill Community Economic Development Corporation (OHCEDC) is a nonprofit organization based in Morganton, North Carolina. Our mission is to empower residents for success in today’s economy through advocacy, counseling, and education that promotes economic mobility and opportunity. We serve Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, and McDowell counties.
OHCEDC has a long-standing history of providing HUD-certified housing counseling, foreclosure prevention, rental assistance navigation, financial literacy, small business assistance, and community-based economic development initiatives—often stepping in where systems fall short.
Purpose of Board Service
The OHCEDC Board of Directors provides governance, fiduciary oversight, strategic direction, and community leadership to ensure the organization remains strong, compliant, and mission-driven. Board members are ambassadors for OHCEDC and play a critical role in sustaining and expanding our impact.
Skills & Expertise Sought
We are currently seeking board members with experience in one or more of the following areas:

Legal / Attorney – nonprofit law, contracts, compliance, governance

Finance / Accounting / Financial Management – budgeting, audits, sustainability, fundraising

Program Planning & Evaluation – community programs, outcome measurement, service delivery

Project Management – planning, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives

Fundraising & Resource Development – grants, donor cultivation, sponsorships

Community Leadership – lived experience, advocacy, grassroots engagement
Board Member Responsibilities
Board members are expected to:

Uphold OHCEDC’s mission, values, and strategic priorities

Attend regular board meetings (in-person or virtual)

Serve on committees as needed

Provide fiduciary oversight of finances and policies

Support fundraising and resource development efforts

Act as ambassadors for OHCEDC within the community

Maintain confidentiality and comply with conflict-of-interest policies
Time Commitment

Regular Board Meetings: Approximately [2 Hours monthly]
