ECONOMIC STABILITY

EMPOWERING INDIVIDUALS TO BE PART OF THE CONVERSATION​

Empowering Unifour residents to overcome situational and system barriers includes everything from securing rental housing, to financial counseling and coaching to education on “residents rights”, to homeownership and preservation. Collectively these efforts empower individual and communities, promote stability and foster growth in financial independence.

Our Homeownership Center includes financial fitness, health and wealth education and financial coaching, homeownership education and counseling, foreclosure prevention and delinquency counseling, and home maintenance training.

​Olive Hill CEDC is a member of the NC Housing Finance Agency’s Community Partners’ Loan Pool program provides financing for down payment and closing costs. Funds from the Unifour Consortium Down Payment Assistance program are combined to keep mortgage affordable.

Olive Hill CEDC continues to evaluate unmet lending/financial needs in the broader community and will unveil additional, enhanced products to support our residents and communities in 2020-2021.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

OHCEDC provide tools, including technical and financial assistance and skills training, to local entrepreneurs to start and grow small businesses.  Olive Hill CEDC Business Center serves as an advocate for these socially and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs seeking to create, sustain or grow micro enterprises. OHCEDC offers skill-based resources designed to address the special needs of minorities in business. OHCEDC Business Center provides management and technical assistance, help with writing business plans, business counseling, and special workshops, which include internet training and financial literacy. Although OHCEDC services are available to all business concerns, it is committed to attracting and serving minorities, especially those who are socially and/or economically disadvantaged.

SERVICES INCLUDE:


One-on-One Counseling
Mentoring in the areas of business plan development, operations, marketing, management, technical and financial literacy, and more.

Educational Workshop
Training is provided on a variety of business topics to help entrepreneurs become successful business owners. The training program includes classes, workshops, and seminars that present new ideas, practical business skills, fresh perspectives and valuable information.

Access to Capital
Financial services incorporating a comprehensive feasibility assessment, loan packaging and grant proposal assistance.

Mentoring
Events are held quarterly in a group setting to provide opportunities for business owners to help and support each other as well as impart business expertise and best practices.

ADVOCACY

OHCEDC provides a voice for fair and sustainable community development in partnership with advocates at the local, regional, and national levels by using objective data, conducting outreach, and gathering support to drive programmatic and development initiatives that support the Unifour region individuals and families.
